I didn’t listen to the complaints from the other reviewers, and I purchased this clock. Big mistake. Batteries are very difficult to put into the unit and they have to be jammed in to close the back. The plastic lip that is supposed to support the clock in the open position broke off, so I can’t use the clock in the open position as it is supposed to do. Amazon should consider not offering this item any more. I purchased this unit over another only because I have the Prime shipping option.

The plastic case broke when I tried to open it and install the battery.
This is not the classic design it imitates but a very cheap imitation.
Unfortunately I cant even say if it actually worked because I just pitched it immediately.

I broke the cheap little hinge while attempting to put a battery in it when it arrived. Very, very cheap junk.

When I took it out of its hard plastic wrapper, the lower hinge (holding the clock to the base) broke immediately. Then I tried to put a battery in it and succeeded only after I forced the battery in hard enough to damage the battery’s top edge — the hole for the battery is too small. Then I tried to set the time by turning the little knob on the back that moves the clock’s hands, and the knob broke right off. Then I put it all the various bits and pieces into the garbage, not wanting to waste my time trying to return it. I sure wish I’d read these other reviews before I bought it.
